Success is something that I think every single one of us is chasing, now everyone's success is different, you might want to have a successful business, a successful sports career, be a successful father / mother, everyone wants different things
But successful people, in any area, always have habits that support their success, and quite frankly, without them, they would not be able to get to where they are now
So we took a look at the habits that set successful people apart from everyone else, and here is what we think are the 4 most important habits of successful people
WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS
You might not believe this, because of how crazy this statistic is but people with goals are 10 times more likely to achieve them, than people without any clear goals.
A Harvard business study looked at a sample group of people and found that
- 83% of people don’t have any goals,
- 14% had a plan, but their goals are not written down
- 3% had their goals written down
The study found that the 14% who had goals were 10 times more likely to achieve them than the 83% without any clear goals
But the 3% who had them written down, were 3 times more likely to achieve them compared to the 14% of people who had a plan.
When you are crystal clear about what you want, you become much more focused, because clarity affords focus and from my experience, focus gets results
THEY DO THE WORK
Work ethic, is developed, you’re not born with it.
Work ethic is as much a habit as going to the gym or brushing your teeth. And like every other habit, it becomes more ingrained in your personality and becomes stronger the more you do it
Highly successful people have a work ethic so high that normal people think they’re inhuman for being able to work that hard
But it’s not just hard work in general, successful people find what area generates the most results, and they go all in on that area and work extremely hard at the one thing that works the best
Because successful people know, not all work is equal, not all work generates the same results
THEY READ AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
We currently live in the greatest time in human history to collect knowledge, you can get information on almost anything from a quick search on your phone.
But reading, is the greatest way to collect knowledge, and not only that it's got countless psychological benefits.
In today's era, you can get a book on anything you want to strengthen your knowledge and understanding in any area
And this is what successful people do, Bill gates reads 50 books a year, Mark Cuban reads more than 3 hours everyday, reading in any area is how you strengthen your understanding, and as they say “Knowledge is power”
GRATITUDE & APPRECIATION
Successful people, will often practice gratitude, and there's several reasons for this. Studies found it raised happiness by 25% in people who practiced daily gratitude.
It can also improve brain function, Dr. Emiliana Simon-Thomas ran a study, where participants, practiced several ways of showing gratitude. After eight weeks of people practicing gratitude , brain scans found that individuals had stronger brain structure for social cognition and empathy, as well as part of the brain that processes rewards,
All of this combined floods the brain with positive chemicals and sparks the brain activity, critical to sleep, mood regulation and metabolism. It also improves our connection with friends and family, and helps make us become more productive as we are more motivated and inspired to be around people we're grateful for, pushing us to get more done
So there you go! That is some of the four habits of some of the most successful people.
Focusing on their goals, taking action on the most important parts of those goals, learning more and more that helps them in every area of their lives, and expressing gratitude for what they have
And when they combine all of these things, it’s no wonder they’re able to achieve what they want to achieve.
